I have been ignoring this “TED” thing for a long time, but I became interested once I discovered we are going to have one in India also (sadly we had one in Dubai also, but  I missed it already.)

So far, I watched two TED Talks one  The thrilling potential of SixthSense technology by Parnav Mistry and the second East vs. West — the myths that mystify by Devdutt Patnaik. Ideas in the first talk regarding the sixth sense are quite revolutionery but anyone well versed and up-to-date in technology would argue they are not that easy to implement. So, despite his great ideas he failed to convince me. From the demos I would make out they were not even the original demos but a prototypes especially built for this presentation.

The second talk by Devdutt Patnaik I would say is awesome, one of the best presentations I have ever watched on such boring and intellectual topic. I might say he is the genius, his delivery and presentation style was flawless. It was backed up by strong content based on good research and well thought presentation plan. I liked the concept of belief officer to. How great it would be to have one in an organization to create, maintain, manage, evolve good beliefs & finally destroy the bad beliefs. At the end I would like to say:

Beliefs orginate from the stories we tell and listen. Behind every story there is a belief and behind every belief there is a story. It is upto us to identify that story and connect to it in a deeper level.

Indians hoarding back everything!!! (including wallpapers) November 13, 2009

Read this wonderful article written by Ms Piyul on Proact Blog. She discusses how we Indians have a tendency to hoard back everything including all things antique & useless. This habit is inherited from generations to generations. Perhaps, I have not. Recently, I threw away a TV box presumably it was full of bed bugs. Keeping useless old things are just plain idiocy I see.

Anyhow, on serious side may be this habit of Indians have a lot more brighter side to it. India recently featured on some magazines green countries list. Interestingly, we Indians have a  lesser carbon footprint than our counterparts all over the world. Because we consume less, save more, use indigenous tansport (have some one listened about Ghudakka – an engine mounted on a wooden cart) and yeah we prefer walking, cycling and more. Similarly, we don’t throw things easily or “Remove from the home” as Ms Piyul Said :) . (Evidenty, you can’t use “throw awa” old people might get offended, use a more polite version instead) .I see there is some logic to it. If you keep a thing with yourself, may be if you need it in the future you won’t have to buy (or burrow or find or stole in some extreme cases) again. One of the striking features of any Indian Home would be a “Store Room” where they keep all these someday-we-will-need-them things. My family too used to have one. I miss it so much.

So anyhow, I was discussing how I don’t have this habit. Like the famous dialogue in one of the Jurassic Parks in which the guy said “Life will find its own way”, I too say “Habits will find their own way”. So, what do I hoard back. Emails, Softwares, Wallpapers, Music (no How come delete it, I’ll listen to it someday?), RSS articles & Newpapers (I have really old ones dating back as early as 2000)

So, guys no matter how modern and culturally deprived (I made it up) we become, we gonna never forget our roots, we will continue to be Indians no matter how advanced we become. And on a funny note, we will continue to download Widescreen Wallpapers from interfacelift.org, customize.org, todayswall.com, Bing’s background, desktonexus.com (this is the best one) and we will keep our music library disorganized and keep 7 version of one song (may be we will need it someday) – Plain, Rock, Live, Lounge, Club, Desi & Remix Version. Just in case ;-)

Just came back to tell I forgot to mention my eBooks folder – it has around 2500 PDFs, oh sure i’ll read/need them someday. I also invite you to Fireworks show hosted at my home which will begin once my papa returns to find that his old beloved TV Box (around 12 years old) has been “Removed from the house”

Why should you not go on adding features to a product? December 27, 2007

What is yours, but other people use it more often than you? May 29, 2006

Yeah, you guessed wrong. It’s your name.

I am experimenting this for sometime, people really respond to their name. They really feel happy when you use their name. They get sense of belonging, they feel recognized. They feel proud, they feel happy. If you want to get recognized just try calling your friends with their name. What do you think about this, Leslie?

David, if you use name like this, in beginning of your sentences people really feel good that they are addressed directly. Avoid using hey and hello, or excuse me or yelling someone “hey! Listen” try using their name and see how quickly they respond. Even you can try this, Natasha, using someone’s name in middle of your sentences grabs the attention of person you are talking to and make them inclined to your thinking and viewpoint.

The first thing that you should think of when you see someone is their name, this way helps you to remember and use their name more often. Be careful some people get irritated when you call them by name, isn’t it Sonia? Ha ha ha. I made this mistake, when I addressed my teacher with her name (of course with Ma’am) and she got angry and scolded me.

When people (who know my name) don’t call me with my name I don’t respond to them. In fact, when I was born my parents gifted me something that gave me identity. And I would like to maintain this identity until I am alive.

Follow my simple policy, and you will instantly see the effect. It will make you get noticed, will help you make more friends. People will sit and notice you when you come, people will turn their heads when you will talk. You will become a famous personality. Next time you meet your old friend; don’t say boring “Hi, ” say “Hi, Niru”. And see how they respond.

After all our name is the only thing which we like to listen over and over again.

Perhaps, it is very easy to choose a name but it is very difficult to sustain it, isn’t it Raghav?

“A blog revolving 360* around ordinary life and discovering new things n making them get noticed!”

It is my duty to let you know things that you may not be able to notice, that is what my blog says. To let you notice about unnoticed things and actions those are taking place in a life so ordinary.

On May 4th 2006 at 2 minutes and 3 seconds after 1 am… the time and date will be:

01:02:03:04/05/06

(Hour: minute: second: date/month/year)

This will never happen on this earth again.

What so special about this? I don’t know about you but I have already set alarms for this thing (like New Year celebrations). I will wake up at mid night and write a diary entry. It will begin with (I always enter time also), 01:02:03 04/05/06… How cool?

Are you not excited?

Please make a difference

Meanwhile, I would like to bring your attention towards this blog entry(hopefully if you don’t know already); our friend Niru is making lots of efforts to let us notice small things with big meanings.

English – Language of poetry April 16, 2006

I just discovered that English language was actually created for the purpose of poetry. It is one of the sweetest languages of the world (I thought it was Sanskrit). Anyhow, I am studying this language deeply nowadays and looking for some serious research into poetry (which is the theme of most of my associated blogs and people).

I discovered different techniques that poets used earlier. I have been learning them of lately and trying to invent some new (remember “I not). I think what I was writing was just plain English with rhyming. No deeper meanings, poetry or that wonderful touch or hidden meanings, just plain boring English. So what’s up? Watch this space for some serious poems coming right on your way.

Back to the topic of sweetness of English, all says I am good English speaker. That was what I also believed until I met this new girl who speaks English with such sweetness – oh more than that of sugar. I sound like if I am George W. Bush (thanks to my enhanced accent). But when she speaks, it is like a song coming right out of her mouth. So, what’s the moral of the story? Speak slowly, fluently and sweetly and win the hearts of your friends and listeners. (Contrary to this, I sound if I am a very good person on this blog or other writings)

Don’t try to speak fast to grab the attention of others. By speaking you have already got the attention. Now this serious advice is for me. (You can use it if you too sound too harsh when you speak right away)

I discovered this poem, while I was researching the topic. I really liked the poem (you may already have read it before). It is really true and real to life. Hope you enjoy it too…
What is this life, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare? No time to stand beneath the boughs
And stare as long as sheep or cows. No time to see, when woods we pass,
where squirrels hide their nuts in grass. No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night? No time to turn at beauty’s glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance? No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began? A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare. William Henry Davies
